Thought-provoking

Well, we have been very busy since returning from Branson. As some of you know, we have a Christian school that is larger than our church! LOL Every summer we have to expand to accommodate our growing student body. We currently have 72 students enrolled for this school year, with Parent Orientation tomorrow night, and school starting next Monday so spare time has been in short supply. My mother-in-law is here visiting and it has been such a blessing to have an extra pair of hands around. It has been over a year since she's been here to visit, and she has thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and hearing her son preach! In fact, he preached an excellent message yesterday morning which is the reason behind the title of this post. He preached "Are You on the Potter's Wheel or Are You Just in His House?" It was an incredible message and very thought-provoking as he challenged us to always stay malleable in the hands of Jesus. So many people allow the Lord to work on them for a short while... and then they're done! They want to stay close to the Potter, but they don't really want Him to change them. Galatians 3:3 warns us, "Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?" I can recall my dad teaching about the value of having a "teachable spirit." In reflecting, I realized that all of the people I most admire are people with a "teachable spirit" - willing to take on uncharted territory and blaze a new trail, willing to admit their imperfections and work on them, willing to grow and learn a little bit every day. Galatians 4:19 is my prayer for myself - "My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you."
